Why simple arcade games still win
There's a snobbery about arcade games, like anything without a skill tree isn't a real game. I think that's backwards. The purest test of design is a game you understand in ten seconds and still play a hundred times.
The best arcade games hide their depth in execution. The rules are simple; mastering them isn't. That's the same thing that made old cabinet games sticky decades ago, and it still works on a phone.
We keep coming back to titles with a clean loop and honest difficulty. When you fail and immediately know why, and you want one more try, the designer did their job.
So no, we won't apologize for putting a fishing game or a drift racer next to a sprawling RPG in our catalog. Good is good.
